The Azerbaijan National Scientific Team will participate in the 76th International Astronautical Congress, which will take place in Sydney, Australia, from September 29 to October 3, 2025.
Our National Scientific Team has been actively participating in this event for the fourth consecutive year. The guiding theme of this year's congress will be “Sustainable Space: Resilient Earth,” which will explore the essential connection between space innovation and sustainability. The theme will focus on three central areas: space-based applications for Earth, sustainable space activities; and sustaining life beyond Earth.
The scientific articles to be presented at the Sydney Congress will cover topics such as the use of space opportunities in finance, industry, agriculture, construction, urban planning, ICT, and other sectors, as well as space solutions for the development of a digital, green, and sustainable future.
Information about the Sydney Congress was presented on January 13, 2025, during the Certification Awarding Ceremony of the Azerbaijan National Scientific Team and the presentation of the Mentorship Program within the framework of the International Astronautical Congress 2025 project. The event was organized by Azercosmos’ SPACE Academy with the support of the SABAH groups of State Agency for Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the Innovation and Digital Development Agency. The ceremony aims to strengthen initiatives supporting Azerbaijan’s development in the field of space science and initiatives to support the space ecosystem.
At the event, the significant achievements obtained within the framework of the International Astronautical Congress 2024, held under the call “Responsible Space for Sustainability” from October 14-18, were highlighted. Out of 345 articles submitted within the framework of the International Astronautical Congress, 92 were accepted, and 52 members of the Azerbaijan National Scientific Team traveled to Milan to present their work to the international audience. Our country was ranked among the top five countries with the most scientific articles presented, along with the USA, Italy, India, and China.
The Mentorship Program, presented during the ceremony, will create new opportunities for young professionals to exchange knowledge and experience in the field of space science.
