Saleh Nabiyev, a specialist at the Geographic Information Systems Center of Azercosmos, received an "Honorable Mention" at the "Blue Pale Dot" visualization competition organized by NASA. It is noteworthy that our colleague is one of 33 individuals out of more than 1600 participants from 104 countries to receive this recognition.
The main goal of this competition organized by NASA is to draw attention to Earth observation data, which is a crucial tool for understanding and improving the issues at hand. Participants in the competition create visualizations using satellite imagery to address the Sustainable Development Goals related to zero hunger, clean water, and climate action.
In the competition, Saleh Nabiyev presented suitability maps for solar and wind energy as alternative energy sources for the Karabakh region. This visualization demonstrates the feasibility of transitioning to clean energy sources like solar and wind energy in the Karabakh region.
