As part of the upcoming Space Technology Conference 2025 (STC2025) in Baku, Azercosmos, the Space Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, will welcome the leadership of STAR.VISION—a leading Chinese space intelligence company specializing in AI-powered satellite technology—for a special visit on April 24. The visit marks a key milestone in the growing strategic partnership between the two organizations.
Azercosmos and STAR.VISION have jointly launched a collaborative research initiative focused on assessing the impact of climate change on the Caspian Sea using advanced remote sensing and AI-driven analytics. The project, supported by Ningbo University, a renowned Chinese institution in coastal and ecological research, leverages intelligent satellite technology to monitor two decades of changes in the Caspian coastline, including water level fluctuations, coastal erosion, and ecosystem degradation.
As the world's largest inland body of water, the Caspian Sea represents a critical indicator of climate-related transformations. Through this initiative, Azercosmos and STAR.VISION aim to develop and deploy onboard AI models that enable real-time tracking and predictive insights—empowering sustainable management and conservation efforts for the region and beyond.
The findings of this project were presented at the COP29 conference in 2024, showcasing Azerbaijan and China’s commitment to global climate action through space-based solutions. These insights will also be highlighted during STC2025, positioning the conference as a key platform for advancing dialogue on space technology’s role in environmental sustainability.
This collaboration exemplifies the shared vision of Azercosmos and STAR.VISION in using cutting-edge technologies to address some of the most urgent environmental challenges of our time. Their joint presence at STC2025 reflects a broader ambition to strengthen Azerbaijan-China cooperation in Earth observation, AI innovation, and sustainable development.
