Azercosmos presented Azerbaijan’s expanding space capabilities and economic outlook at the Southeast Asian Space Leaders’ Forum, organized within the framework of the Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF-31) held in the Philippines.
In a presentation dedicated to the topic of "Space Economy", detailed information was provided about the achievements Azerbaijan has made in recent years towards establishing a modern space ecosystem.
The presentation discussed Azerspace-1 and Azerspace-2 telecommunications satellites, which contribute to the development of the digital economy in the region, "Azconnexus" satellite internet solutions, as well as capabilities related to Earth observation.
The value created by Azercosmos’ Geographic Information Systems and Earth Observation capabilities for the space economy was emphasized. It was noted that solutions like “FarmerApp”, “Platerra”, “WebGIS platform”, and climate analytics have expanded the use of satellite data in sectors such as agriculture, ecology, urban planning, and others.
The presentation also highlighted one of Azercosmos' strategic goals: the development of human capital, including the programs of the Space Academy created for this purpose, and the contribution these initiatives make to enhancing young people's knowledge and skills in space technologies.
During the forum, Azercosmos and the Philippine Space Agency held a bilateral meeting. The parties discussed the prospects for cooperation in areas such as satellite communications, Earth observation applications, human capital development, and joint space initiatives in the Asia-Pacific region. They also exchanged views on the possibility of organizing mutual technical missions in the future.
