Azercosmos is launching the "Women in Space" three-month Mentorship Program for the second time.
The purpose of the program is to discover the potential of women in the field of space in Azerbaijan, provide individual mentorship support for their education and career paths, and support their participation in global cooperation in this field.
The number of women working in the space industry is increasing every year. Currently, women make up 20% of the space industry, but this is just the beginning. Many organizations and companies are implementing various initiatives and programs to encourage broader representation of women in the space sector. Women work in engineering, research, leadership, and other important positions in major space organizations such as NASA, ESA (European Space Agency), SpaceX, and others.
The three-month Mentorship Program organized by Azercosmos will take place from April to June and will offer participants the opportunity to exchange knowledge with renowned international experts in the space field.
Azerbaijani women aged 18-35 who wish to join the program can apply through the registration link below. The deadline for applications is March 11, 2025.
It is worth noting that the announcement of the program on February 11 coincides with the 10th anniversary of the "International Day of Women and Girls in Science" organized by the UN Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA).
As a result of preliminary selections from among the applicants for the program, 10 participants selected will be in direct contact with well-known international mentors and participate in monthly meetings. Additionally, these mentorship sessions will be enriched with monthly workshops by experts from various sectors of the space industry.
It is important to mention that last year's program attracted significant interest, with over 150 applications, and five women were selected for the "Women in Space" Mentorship Program.
This program is an important platform to increase the interest of Azerbaijani women in the fields of space and technology.
