On March 10, the official opening ceremony of the exchange program for Azerbaijani students in the fields of space, aerospace, aviation, innovation, technical sciences, artificial intelligence and engineering was held at Azercosmos’ SPACE Academy.
The event was attended by Dunay Badirkhanov, the Acting Chair of the Board of Azercosmos, Inara Ibrahimkhalilova, Director of the Human Resources Management and Documentation Department, Elza Samadova, Head of the Executive Committee of SABAH groups and Sector Director of the State Agency for Science and Higher Education, Imran Mukhtarov, Head of SPACE Academy, and directors of SABAH centers of the participating universities.
The project will be organized by Azercosmos' SPACE Academy and supported by GUHEM-Gokmen Space and Aviation Training Center. During the visit, from March 14 to 19, 2025, 24 students, young scientists, educators, and executives representing 14 Azerbaijani universities will get acquainted with various leading space and aviation organizations in Türkiye and engage in experience exchange in these fields.
During the visit, students will participate in both theoretical and practical experience exchange at various educational and technology centers, including the Gokmen Space and Aviation Training Center (GUHEM) in Bursa, BUTEKOM, the Turkish Aerospace Agency in Ankara, TurkSat, STM, HAVELSAN, TUBITAK, PLAN-S, Middle East Technical University, Baykar Technology (Bayraktar group) in Istanbul, TUSAŞ, Istanbul Technopark, IT Valley, and other well-known centers.
The goal of the project is to enhance the theoretical and practical knowledge of young specialists in space, aerospace, and other technological fields, as well as to support the development of Azerbaijani youth as future professionals in these sectors by facilitating international experience exchange. This, in turn, will contribute to the development of professional personnel and human capital in Azerbaijan.
It is worth mentioning that GUHEM (Gokmen Space and Aviation Training Center) is a space-innovation center with a 13,000 square meter area, built under the leadership of the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO) in collaboration with the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality and Turkey’s Scientific and Technological Research Council (TÜBİTAK). GUHEM introduces projects and programs in the fields of space and aviation technologies, innovation and digitalization, and ICT, inviting young generations to conduct research in high-tech fields and to enhance their international competitiveness.
