The national final stage of the International Space Olympics, organized by the SPACE Academy of Azercosmos, has concluded.
The Olympics was dedicated to the theme of “Space Stations,” and student teams successfully completed various practical tasks by demonstrating innovative approaches, creative thinking, and scientific knowledge. The teams created physical models of space stations, proposing both functional and creative solutions for their interior and exterior designs.
In addition, the teams presented visual posters that comprehensively illustrated the technical features and functionality of their space station designs. These posters explained how different components of the stations would operate in the space environment and what purposes they would serve.
During the national final, school teams delivered five-minute presentations in English, showcasing their space station models and posters to the Olympics’s National Organizing Committee. The Committee evaluated the presentations based on technical parameters and communication skills in accordance with established criteria.
The tasks of the Olympics aimed to assess students’ ability to solve real-world challenges related to space research and apply practical knowledge. Among the submitted projects, the team that stood out with its scientific justification, functionality, and creative design was declared the winner of the national stage.
The team from the Zarifa Aliyeva Lyceum was announced the winner of the national final and earned the right to represent Azerbaijan at the international stage of the Olympics, which will be held in May 2025 in Tel Aviv, Israel.
The second-place winner was the “Women in Tech” project, and third place went to Secondary School No. 161.
The International Space Olympics provides students with an important platform to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in the field of space research, while fostering scientific thinking and creative approaches. This initiative contributes to nurturing future scientists in the field of space in Azerbaijan and strengthening the country’s scientific potential.
